#MatricResults2020: Westville Girls’ learner placed 1st in KZN, 2nd nationally

Westville Girls' High School has maintained a 100 per cent pass rate since 1991.

WESTVILLE Girls’ High School principal, Russell Untiedt, the School Governing Body and the WHGS school community are extremely proud of the 2020 Matrics and their NSC results. 

With a 100 per cent pass rate, which has been maintained since 1991, 98 per cent learners attained a Bachelor Degree Pass, 16 learners received  7As or more, including Lydia Weber with 9As and Eden Shapira with 8 As.

Colombe Cynthia Obonyo Eyono was the star of the year as she placed first in the province and  second nationally in the Quintile 5 Schools.

“We commend the class of 2020 on their perseverance and dedication during what was a very difficult matric year.  WGHS wishes the matrics of 2020 all the best for their future endeavours,” said Untiedt.

The KZN top learner, Colombe will be heading to Harvard University in the United States to pursue her academic career later in 2021.

During her time at Westville Girls’ High School, Untiedt said Colombe has excelled in many areas of school life, most notably in her academic pursuits. 

“She has been placed in first position in Grade for all five years of her schooling and has maintained an A aggregate (80 per cent or above) throughout,” said the proud principal.

At the Grade 12 Valedictory Ceremony, Colombe achieved subject prizes in six of her seven subjects and received recognition for her command of languages as she achieved the top mark in both English Home Language and in Afrikaans First Additional Language,

 In addition, she was awarded the Westville Lions Good Fellowship award, which was voted for by her peers.  This demonstrates the high regard in which she is held by staff and learners at our school.
