Matric results: Perseverance pays off for Pinetown learners

Pinetown Girls' High School achieved a 98.4 per cent pass rate.

PINETOWN Girls’ High School celebrated the fruits of their labour as the school’s matric class of 2020 achieved a 98.4 per cent pass rate despite a challenging year.

PGHS principal, Sibongile Njapha conveyed her gratitude to the staff for the support they have given her, management of the school, parents and learners during the most difficult year of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Njapha said they soldiered on during lockdown. 

“They delivered the curriculum with a lot of dedication while at times putting their lives and those of their family members at risk,” said Njapha.

She congratulated the Class of 2020 and said she wishes them all the best as they go out into the world.

The country’s Matric Class of 2020 obtained a 76,2 per cent pass rate that, when compared to 2019’s results, is a drop from 81.3 per cent.
