IEB 2020 matric results: St Mary’s DSG, Kloof

ST Mary’s DSG, Kloof’s class of 2020 have obtained outstanding results and once again achieved a 100 per cent Bachelor Degree pass rate.

The matriculants earned 342 distinctions between them, which is an average of 3.2 distinctions per learner.

Six girls feature in the commendable and outstanding lists and there are 19 instances of the learners achieving in the top 1 per cent in their subject in the country.

Special congratulations were given to six learners who, on a national scale, placed in the top 5 per cent.

Achieving this in six subjects was Clarice Smith, Kyla McLoughlin and Jessica Thomson. Achieving this in five subjects was Zoë Coombe, Jamie Dunbar and Alanna Swainston Harrison.

This was one of the toughest years in which to complete Matric and this class has done brilliantly. It was a wonderful team effort from teachers, parents and the girls themselves. The encouragement, innovation and determination paid off.

There were also 19 instances where the school’s learners achieved in the top 1 per cent nationally.

Of the 752 subject results, 79 per cent were either an A or a B symbol. Kyla McLoughlin and Clarice Smith also took AP mathematics and AP English and achieved distinctions in both of these.

This bought their total to nine distinctions each. Savannah Scoular, Gabi Postma and Sasha Söderlund obtained distinctions in AP English, with Savannah and Gabi achieving 7 distinctions and Sasha received 8 distinctions.

“Although the matric year is often seen in isolation because of the results, every teacher along their school journey to this point has played a vital part. Their foundations were strong and each successive year built on their colleagues’ work. Thank you to all the teachers for your love and dedication and commitment to each girl,” said the school’s executive principal, Jonathan Manley.
