Post office responds to growing Westville complaints

The area manager has assured residents that the matter of litter and vagrants in the vicinity of the Westville Post Office is being attended to and will monitor the situation and ensure the area is always kept clean.

SOUTH African Post Office spokesperson, Nobuhle Njapha responded after the Highway Mail was inundated with complaints from residents regarding Westville Post Office.

Last week, the Highway Mail published a story about a group of volunteers from the Westville Conservancy and Keep Westville Beautiful who have taken it upon themselves to clean up the area.

Njapha said the Westville Post Office location is surrounded by people who dump garbage at their premises.

“The matter has been reported to the Municipality, including the need to deal conclusively with the drug dealers in the area.”

She added that the staff at the post office are thankful for the help it gets from community members to clean the area, including the Rotary Club of Westville which assists with grass cutting.

“The area manager has taken this issue seriously and will monitor the situation and ensure the area is always kept clean. The Post Office is a public service building and we urge our community to take care of it as we are there to ensure that government service reaches everyone in need,” added Njapha.
