Robbers flee with cash from New Germany Post Office

The two men pretended to be clients before robbing the post office.

PINETOWN police are searching for two suspects who fled with an undisclosed amount of money after robbing the New Germany Post Office this morning, 4 February 2021.

eThekwini District communications commander, Capt Carmen Rhynes said two men, posing as clients, entered the post office.

Rhynes said one suspect was carrying a box and said he wanted it to be posted while the other suspect pretended to have documents that needed to be certified. 

“While the staff at the post office tried to assist them, the suspects produced firearms and forced their way into the back office.

They took an undisclosed amount of cash and a cellphone, belonging to the manager, before fleeing the scene on foot,” reported Rhynes.

Police are investigating a case of armed robbery and people who have information regarding the incident is urged to Crime Stop on 10111 or Pinetown police on 031 325 5080.
