Man appears in Pinetown Magistrate’s Court for five brutal murders
Five of the victims were found dead while one sustained serious injuries.
FOLLOWING the brutal murder of five people in KwaNdengezi, near Mariannhill, in September last year, a 23-year-old man has been arrested.
The man was arrested by Tshelimnyama detectives from the Provincial Organised Crime Unit who were assigned, by the provincial commissioner, to solve the case.

KZN police spokesman, Brigadier Jay Naicker the suspect’s arrest follows the attack on six people including three women.
“He was found in possession of one of the deceased’s cellphone.”
Naicker said the incident took place on 26 September 2020 at 9pm. According to Naicker, the victims were inside a vehicle in the Snethemba area in KwaNdengezi when a group of men arrived in another vehicle and ordered them out.
“The suspects allegedly indiscriminately opened fire on them. Police found five of the victim’s dead near the vehicle and established that one of the victims was seriously injured and transported to hospital,” said Naicker.
Charges of murder and attempted murder were opened for investigation at KwaNdengezi SAPS. “The suspect made his first appearance in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday, (Tuesday, 2 February) on charges of murder, attempted murder and possession of stolen property,” added Naicker.
He was remanded in custody until 12 February 2021. Detectives expect more arrests, as the investigation is ongoing.
