WATCH: CROW rescues bird stuck in sticky situation

The stork was found covered in dozens of leech-like pods.

A STORK that was swept into a sewage pipe while looking for food was rescued by the Centre For Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW).

CROW’s communications officer, Alex Kogl, said the bird was found covered in dozens of leech-like pods.

“Baby powder was applied to help dry out the feathers and to detach the sticky pods from her wings.”

Within 24 hours, Kogl said the stork was standing, eating and looking much better.

“She will be released soon,” she said. 

CROW is an NGO based in Durban that rescues, rehabilitates and releases injured, orphaned or displaced wild animals.
