Diligent learners bag Westville Varsity College scholarships

The purpose of the R25 million three year programme which was introduced last year is to inspire the 250 learners to become the leaders and thinkers they are meant to be.

TWENTY NINE prospective learners received various scholarships to study at The IIE’s Varsity College Westville.

This is subject to the students progressing well enough to complete their qualifications within the minimum duration (three to four years).

One of the recipients, Justin Swart, former learner at Amanzimtoti High School, with an average mark of 90 per cent, will be studying towards an IIE Bachelor of Laws.

Despite the many challenges Swart has encountered, he said he believes that he is self-motivated and has excelled academically thus far and will continue to do so.

“The purpose of the R25 million three year programme is to inspire the 250 learners to become the leaders and thinkers they are meant to be, to never stop learning and to increase their knowledge with the right skills by maximising the support offered by The IIE’s Varsity College,” said campus head (The IIE’s Varsity College Westville), Yenusha Ramluggan.

Ramluggan added that the IIE’s Varsity College was extremely fortunate to be able to launch its scholarship programme given the context of 2020 and the impact of Covid-19 on society – in particularly on the 2020 Grade 12 learners.

“As The IIE’s Varsity College Westville campus, we proudly awarded the 29 scholarships in the various categories. We were overwhelmed by the number of applications.

Awarding the scholarships to the successful candidates meant difficult decisions as we applied the strict, prescribed criteria,” said.

Ramluggan wished all their applicants the very best in their academic career.
