As the number of daily Covid-19 infections continue to rise, the Department of Health has shared guidelines for self-isolation at home.

The country has been hit hard by the recent influx of deaths due to the second-wave. South Africa has set a new daily Covid-19 record with 21,832 new cases.
It was reported that this is the first time the country has surpassed 20,000 for new infections in a single day.
The new cases take the total number of infections to a cumulative 1,149,591. The death toll is now at 31,368 while 929,239 people have recovered from Covid-19.
Guidelines for self-isolation at home:
- Protect yourself and the people you live with by cleaning your hands frequently throughout the day.
- Wash your hands with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds before drying your hands thoroughly, preferably with a clean single use towel.
- Alternatively, use alcohol-based hand sanitiser applied to clean hands.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when when you cough or sneeze; or cough or sneeze into your elbow.
- Use of a cloth face mask is recommended for all household members.
- Throw used tissues in a lined trash.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
