Malvern SAPS closes temporarily after staff test positive for Covid-19

Several officers and other staff have become ill or tested positive for Covid-19 leading to the temporary closure of Malvern SAPS.

MALVERN SAPS is on a long list of Durban police stations which had to close their doors to public walk-ins after staff tested positive for Covid-19.

This isn’t the first time Malvern SAPS had to close for a deep cleaning as staff also contracted the deadly novel coronavirus, responsible for almost 30 000 deaths in South Africa, during the first wave.

With the second wave of positive cases being recorded, spokesperson for the station, Sgt Sthembile Kheswa said several cases among the staff, with some requiring hospitalisation, made the closure of the station necessary.

An announcement was shared by station on Sunday evening.

“The Community Service Centre (CSC) will now operate from an office not far from the CSC for the convenience of the community. The phone number for anyone needing the office is 031 489 9628.  Anyone wishing to access the station can call 10111 for emergencies and complaints which will be attended to accordingly,” read the announcement.
