Community donation helps restore Dawncliffe Christmas angels

It took three days for the massive iron angels to be repaired.

THE Dawncliffe Christmas angels have become a beloved feature among the Highway community.

So much so, that when they were recently damaged by a motorist, residents wasted no time in collecting R9 000 to repair the angels.

Ann Pape, the Westille resident who has for the last 35 years been displaying these beautiful features outside her home, said she was grateful for the assistance from the community.

“It’s like family coming home. They bring so much joy to the community and doing so brings a lot of joy to us. It is very rewarding,” she said.

Pape said it took three days for the massive iron angels to be structurally repaired, and she confirmed that they are once again out on display along Harwarden Crescent.

Unfortunately, the lights, which create the magic surrounding these iconic angels, is still being repaired.

“We hope to have the lights done today,” she said on Tuesday, 22 December.
