Keep Hillcrest Beautiful Association cleans up Crooked Lane

To help create a safer space for pedestrians, the Keep Hillcrest Beautiful Association cleaned up the road.

TWO of The Keep Hillcrest Beautiful Association’s (KHBA) staff members were instrumental in a large clean-up along Crooked Lane in Hillcrest recently.

The road is flanked by various businesses and, according to Marge Mitchell of the local non-profit organisation, is a haven for vagrants to hide in.

“There have been some attacks on passers-by and the centre supervisor of the Sizakala offices, Bongi Miya, expressed her concern to KHBA and we stepped in to clean up the area,” said the non-profit organisation’s Marge Mitchell.

Songezile Nataza and Nqobilo Mazeka of KHBA filled dozens of bags of refuse during the clean-up. The eThekwini Municipality were on hand with a bakkie to help remove the many bags of refuse.

“We urge the businesses in Crooked Lane to help by making sure their road is litter free and clean,” said Mitchell.
