Otto Volek Road opened after devastating fire

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.

TWO lanes in Otto Volek Road, going towards Pinetown, and one lane going towards Clermont is now open. 

The road was closed as firefighters battled for several hours to extinguish the massive fire at the New Germany chemical factory.

According to advanced life support paramedic Garrith Jamieson, 13 people were injured and transported to hospital. 

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage and authorities will be investigating.
