Community group arrest Gillitts housebreaking suspect

The community crime fighting group were able to effect an arrest of an alleged housebreaker.

A HOUSEBREAKING suspect was tracked down after a large-scale manhunt through the Gillitts area on Wednesday morning.

“Blue Security Community Crime Prevention Units and armed response officers scrambled into action after being informed of the incident on the security network,” said Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios.

“The suspect had initially been spotted entering a Gillitts property and had begun ransacking the interior before possibly being disturbed,” Mathios said.

“After a description of the suspect had been circulated, based on information supplied, multiple units began patrolling the community. Various Blue Security officers and members of the Blue Community Crime Prevention Unit responded to the alert of the incident,” he said.

“A massive search ensued as the suspect had gone on the run and made off into a riverbed. The chase covered a distance of between two to three kilometres from the crime scene,” he said.

“The suspect was eventually spotted by a member of the Community Crime Prevention Unit and successfully detained,” he said. “He was handed over to the relevant authorities for further processing after additional resources arrived at the scene and confirmed that the man was the suspect wanted for the original housebreaking,” he said. The suspect has also been linked to multiple other crimes in the area through Blue Security’s crime intelligence networks.
