A DOG, that went on a walkabout and ended up in a dense forest, was safely rescued from a 3m ravine. The owner of the Jack Russell alerted the Rescue Tech organisation.
“The dog had somehow got into difficulty and ended up in a 3 metre ravine,” said Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios.
It was established that the dog had to be rescued using rope rescue techniques. Mathios said Netcare 911 also responded to the call for assistance and a rescue rope technician arrived on scene to oversee the rescue. “An off-duty paramedic also arrived to make sure there we no injuries.
“The rescue took an hour and dog was handed over to the owner. No one was injured,” said Mathios adding that the story had a happy ending.
