A MAN, believed to be in his 30s, was airlifted to hospital in a critical condition following an accident on the M19, west bound, near Dunkeld Road in Pinetown this morning, (Monday, 2 November).

Spokesperson for Rescue Care Paramedics, Rowan Scandroglio said paramedics from Rescue Care together with Redline Response arrived on the scene to find a light delivery vehicle had lost control and overturned before colliding into a truck.
“The driver of the delivery vehicle was ejected from the vehicle and was found a few metres away from the vehicle,” explained Scandroglio.
“The man sustained critical injuries and was stabilised on the scene by Rescue Care Advanced Life Support paramedics before the Netcare 911 Aero medical helicopter was activated to airlift him to a nearby hospital,” said Scandroglio.
Three other men sustained moderate injuries and was stabilised on the scene before being transported to hospital. Scandroglio added that the cause of the accident is unknown at the moment but SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
