UPDATE: Metro cop shoots Pinetown robber, confirm police
The officer was on his way to work when he noticed knife-wielding man attacking a motorist at the Pinetown notorious section.
A METRO police instructor, who was on his way to work, shot and killed an armed robber who was attacking a motorist in the notorious intersection between Josiah Gumede Road (Old Main Road) and Anderson Road in Pinetown.

According to Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, the police officer noticed three men approaching a car while waiting in traffic on Anderson Road.
“The vehicle’s windows were opened. Two suspects tried to remove the car keys from the ignition. One suspect, who was carrying a knife, went to the passenger side.
“The police officer then shot one of the suspects who died on scene, the other two suspects fled the scene,” said Manqele.
