Arrests expected as Bellair SAPS detectives probe murder of Gillitts businessman

Although Cpt Gwala has since confirmed that the matter was not enrolled in court, arrests are expected to take place soon as Bellair detectives piece together what happened to Dhanpall Rajcoomar (52) in the last hours of his life.

THE woman detained by police to assist in the investigation surrounding the death of Gillitts businessman, Dhanpall Rajcoomar, has been released. 

The investigator, who found the man’s body, said the woman who was detained by police owned the house where Rajcoomar’s vehicle had been found.

The 52-year-old was reported missing on Tuesday at Malvern SAPS after he failed to return home following a meeting with a customer in Bellair.

However, a case of murder had been opened after his body had been found on Thursday last week. 

 

Vehicle found

Rajcoomar, who ran a truck for hire business was planning to meet his customer outside Bellair SAPS so that the customer could pick up and transport a window frame in the area, but never arrived. 

His vehicle was later found at a property in Chatsworth.

SAPS reported on social media over the weekend that a woman had been arrested and would appear in court today, (Monday, 19 October).

 

No suspects

However, Bellair SAPS communications officer, Sgt Pam Pillay confirmed that the woman who had been taken into custody had since been released and was not a suspect.

“The woman who was arrested was for investigation purposes. She was detained and later released after investigation,” said Pillay, adding that the investigation was ongoing and further arrests are expected.
