VIDEO: Westville Boys’ unmask array of talents

Westville Boys' staged a professionally produced virtual show, complying with all the Covid-19 restrictions and protocols. Sit back and enjoy Unmasked.

WESTVILLE Boys’ High School presents Unmasked, another first in the school’s enviable repertoire of stage productions.

With the Covid-19 pandemic changing many things, one thing it has not affected is the tenacity of the school’s young performers.

The show includes individual performances ranging from singing, dancing, acting and instrumental pieces and it is a free show for everyone to watch.

“Their chutzpah would never allow a mere virus to deter them from unmasking their array of talents and letting it all hang out, so to speak,” said the production’s director, Mason Campbell.

“This show has been a really exciting process and is certainly quite different,” he said.

Producer, Rev Alan Miller said as far as he knows, Westville Boys’ is the only school in KZN to have staged a professionally produced virtual show, complying with all the Covid-19 restrictions and protocols.

“Once again, we have broken new ground in the performing arts arena by giving our brilliant young performers an entirely new experience, this time of performing in front of an empty theatre surrounded only by the all-seeing lenses of the unforgiving cameras. They have done superbly,” said Miller.

On screen, audition videos submitted by the young performers and made while confined during lockdown can be seen.

“One thing people need to know about our students is that nothing will keep them from strutting their stuff in front of an audience, even a virtual one. So, when presented with the opportunity to stage this virtual show they leaped at the chance and this is what you are about to experience,” said Campbell.
