Gardener held at gunpoint, homeowner and domestic worker tied up during Westville robbery

One of children who was in the house when the incident happened called the father who contacted 10111.

THREE men were arrested and charged with house robbery after they held up a gardener at gunpoint in Westville on Wednesday, 14 October. Westville SAPS communications officer, Capt Elizabeth Squires said the suspects held up the gardener at gunpoint, took him into the house and used cable ties to tie up the homeowner and domestic worker as well.

According to Squires, one of the children, who was inside the house, phoned their father who called 10111.

“The police officers who received a complaint of a house robbery in progress while patrolling swiftly responded. They managed to arrest the three suspects who were still inside,” she said.

A gun, knife, laptops, cellphones and cash were recovered from the suspects who are expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 19 October. Station commander, Col Moema applauded the members for the excellent arrest.
