The arrested protesters were among the disgruntled informal settlements residents who blockaded the road in the vicinity of Shannon Road, Reservoir Hills on Monday demanding service delivery.

During the riot, a car and a municipal bus were torched.

The protesters also stormed a mall in Reservoir Hills and looted a butchery and a liquor shop.

This was not the first time the shack dwellers took to the streets to voice their grievances.

This has been an ongoing issue which only affects motorists travelling on that route.
