Bellevue Cafe and Zero2Five unite for the ‘loaf’ of others

The aim is to make 2 000 sandwiches for children at ECD centres and orphan care facilities in the Upper Highway area.

ZERO2FIVE and Bellevue Cafe have partnered for World Food Day, Friday, 16 October, to help make 2 000 sandwiches for those in need.

The event will be held at Bellevue Cafe from 7.30am to 10am and volunteers, who will follow all Covid-19 health guidelines, will each be given a 30-minute slot during the set time.

Premier Foods has donated 250 loaves of bread, Clover has sponsored 2592 slices of cheese, 20kg of margarine will be supplied by Willowton, the polony has been donated by Regal Meats, the Juice Kitchen will be supplying fruit and 2 000 lunch boxes are provided by Inhlanhla e.V, Zero2Five’s German NPO partner.

“Collective action across 150 countries is what makes World Food Day one of the most celebrated days on the UN calendar. Hundreds of events and outreach activities bring together governments, businesses, NGOs, the media, and general public. They promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure healthy diets for all,” said Zero2Five’s Julika Falconer.

Once the sandwiches are made, they will be donated to several ECD centres and orphan care facilities in the Upper Highway area.
