CROW admits its cutest patient yet

The baby vervet monkey's mother was shot outside a security company.

A BABY male vervet monkey, that is only a few weeks old, is the latest patient to be admitted at the Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW).

CROW’s spokesman, Alexandra Kögl, described Kenzie, the name he was given upon admission, as having a face as sweet as sugar and noted that he was also their smallest patient.

“This little baby vervet monkey was found alone after his mom was shot outside a security company. Frail and hungry, a kind Samaritan scooped him up and brought him through to CROW,” said Kögl.

He is eating solids and is teething.

“He is also brimming with energy and filled with all the curiosity of a healthy baby monkey. His favourite past-time is sucking on his right big toe and hassling his caretaker, Tayla, about drinking from the bottle. He’s more of a syringe man, it seems,” she laughed.

With baby season in full swing, CROW has urged motorists to be vigilant while driving as the organisation noted vervet monkey troops would often dash across roads unexpectedly.

“Report shootings if you see them and lastly, don’t feed the monkeys. Let’s make this the best baby season ever,” said Kögl.
