VIDEO: Car and municipal bus set alight in M19 protest

Police are at the scene to clear the crowd and maintain order.

A CAR and municipal bus have been set alight by protesters who blocked the M19 in the vicinity of Shannon Road, Reservoir Hills, this morning.

Police are currently on scene trying to disperse the protesters and motorists are advised to avoid Mount Batten Drive. 

According to reports, the protest was sparked by illegal electricity disconnections.

There were also reports of the protesters looting a local liquor store.  

Advanced life support paramedic Garrith Jamieson, confirmed the situation around the M19 was still volatile and that the roadway remains closed off.
