Two gunmen hold up staff and patients at Pinetown medical facility

The men are believed to have posed as patients in need of a doctor.

TWO armed men help up outpatients and staff at a medical facility in Pinetown yesterday.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios, said the two men entered the medical waiting room and under the guise of needing to set up a consultation with a doctor.

“Once the suspects entered the waiting room, they produced firearms and held up the staff and outpatients at gunpoint,” Mathios said.

An undisclosed amount of cash was taken during the hold-up.

Mathios said the incident was caught on CCTV and, because the two men were not wearing masks, it would help identify the suspects during the investigation.

“Fortunately, no injuries were incurred by staff or patients during the incident,” he said.
