New Germany resident held up, assaulted in armed house robbery

The three armed suspects stole two laptops, a computer, a cellphone and clothing.

A GANG of armed men assaulted and robbed a New Germany resident at their home on Friday.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios, said, “Blue Security responded to a panic activation in New Germany and arrived to find a gang of three armed suspects had forced their way into the house by breaking down the front door.”

The resident was help up at gunpoint.

The robbers ransacked the home and fled the scene with two laptops, one computer, a cellphone and clothing.

The gang were reported to have made their escape in an unknown direction in an awaiting grey Jetta.

“No shots were fired and the resident was fortunate to not sustain injury during the home invasion. Investigations are continuing,” said Mathios.

Last week Mathios warned of a spike in house robberies in across Durban with two of the incidents involving a dark-grey Jetta
