Man nabbed in Pinetown with drugs worth R120 000

Police are also conducting investigations to determine if the suspect can be linked to other drug-related crimes. 

A 34-YEAR-OLD man, found in possession of 48 moons of rock cocaine, was arrested yesterday afternoon, (Sunday, 27 September).

According to KZN police spokesman, Col Thembeka Mbele, police officers from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit received information about a man who was on his way to distribute drugs in New Germany, Pinetown.

“They proceeded to the area where police spotted the man driving on the M19 Highway. He was approached on Creek Street in Pinelands where a search was conducted. Police recovered 48 moons of rock cocaine,” said Mbele.

The man was arrested, charged with possession of drugs and taken to Pinetown police station for detention.

Mbele said the recovered drugs have an estimated street value of R120 000.

“The suspect was also charged for contravening the Immigration Act after he produced fraudulent documentation,” said Mbele. 

She said police are also conducting investigations to determine if the suspect can be linked to other drug-related crimes. 

The man is expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court today.
