Drifters tear up Pinetown’s tarmac

To the delight of motoring fans, the SuperDrift Series made an appearance in Pinetown recently.

MOTORING enthusiasts were in for a treat as the SuperDrift Series, through the Driftfari 2020 Tourdrifters, made their way to Pinetown last week.

IndyGo Tyre in Bishop Road was alive with activity as the roar of the engines cascaded across the area, coupled with plumes of white smoke and the satisfying smell of rubber shredded on the tarmac.

For those who missed it, Highway’s own international drifting star Eric ‘The Viking’ van Eyssen as well as Jim McFarlane, Mikey Skelton, and Netflix Hyperdrive star, Stacey Lee May tore up the parking lot at the local shop.

“Unfortunately we didn’t have the authority to drift across the roads due to Covid-19 restrictions and public gatherings, but there sure was a lot of noise and smoke. We feel really privileged to host the event and bring something different to the community in these times,” said IndyGo Tyres’ Charl Momsen.

From the Pinetown event, the drifters made their way to Inanda Dam to drift up the side of a mountain and will soon head off to Port Shepstone to showcase their talent.
