Closing arguments end week’s proceedings at Shongweni jockey murder trial
Defence and prosecution presented their final arguments on Friday to allow for a verdict to be made on Monday, 28 September.
FINAL arguments in the trial of Graham Gregorowski, who is facing charges in Durban’s High Court for the alleged murder of Janet Scott, took place today (Friday, 25 September).
Scott, 54, was found dead in Gregorowski’s bed in a cottage in Shongweni on the morning of 15 October, 2016. The evidence presented to the court in March was witness accounts describing the morning when Scott was found dead.

It also included shocking descriptions by Dr Sibusiso Ntsele, a specialist forensic pathologist, of the injuries Scott suffered.

The trial resumed on Monday, 21 September with the first day almost exclusively devoted to WhatsApp messages between the deceased and the accused.
On Tuesday, 22 September, Gregorowski’s counsel, Adv Mashall Zulu, put his client on the stand to describe the events leading up to the death of Scott who the accused, while testifying, described as “my best friend” and “someone I cared for very much”.

The week’s proceedings ended with closing arguments presented on Friday.
By lunchtime on Friday, court had adjourned for the day. A judgement is expected on Monday morning when the trial resumes at the Durban High Court at 10am.
