VIDEO: 10 injured in multiple vehicle accident on N3

Fire services and paramedics were dispatched to the scene near the Spine Road bridge.

JUST after 7pm last night (Monday, 14 September) emergency services rushed to the scene of an accident involving 10 vehicles.

According to Leon Fourie, spokesperson for Life Response ambulance service the accident occurred on the east-bound carriage way of the N3 just under Spine Road bridge.

“On arrival we found 3 trucks and 7 cars were involved in a serious accident,” said Fourie.

A total of 10 patients were injured in the accident, he confirmed.

“Five of the patients needed advanced life support interventions and one patient was placed on a manual ventilator,” said Fourie.

All the patients were transported to various hospitals. The salvage operation lasted an additional three hours and traffic was severely affected.
