WINSTON Park couple, Melville and Ethelwynne Graham celebrated their golden anniversary on Saturday, 5 September.
The love birds met at a braai in 1966 and have been together since. Melville grew up in East London and moved to Durban where he met the love of his life. The couple tied the knot at St Thomas Anglican Church in Durban.

“We seemed to be getting along very well, so getting married felt like the right thing to do,” said Ethelwynne. She also said it was Melville’s friendliness which charmed her. “He is a very determined man and a go-getter,” she added.
For Melville, it was Ethelwynne’s patience that he loved the most.
“She has all the patience and I have also learnt to be a bit patient,” he said.
Before retiring, Melville worked in the security industry for many years while his wife worked at a bank. They now spend most of their days at home.
“We just keep the house going, my husband loves making pickles,” said Ethelwynne.
Their recipe for a lasting relationship is, ‘give more than you take’. “Communicate always and try to work things out,” added Melville.
They have four children, eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
