ENVIRONMENTAL Health Department from West 1 offices in Waterfall celebrated Arbor Day at Wyebank Primary School on Monday, 7 September.

The department together with Parks Natural Resource and Umgeni Water planted five trees to celebrate the day. September is regarded as Arbor Month and the theme for this year is Forest and Biodiversity.
Basheshile Thusi from Parks Natural Resource said communities needs to be encouraged to plant trees.
“Children need to know at a young age that plants are precious and supply us with oxygen which we need to breath,” said Thusi.
Thusi added, “Plants beautify our surroundings and by planting these trees they leave a legacy for other children who will attend the school in the future and for many years to come.”
