Support blood drive challenge
SANBS needs to collect 4 000 units of blood a day to meet the daily demand for blood.
BLOOD stocks are low and the South African National Blood Services (SANBS) has once again pleaded with the public to consider the needs of patients and help save a life.

Donor relations practitioner, Neelashan Govender said they are battling to get in more life saving blood and have now turned to schools to assist by hosting blood drives.
“Whenever our blood stocks reach below two-days, it places the lives of patients at risk,” said Govender.
SANBS needs to collect 4 000 units of blood a day to meet the daily demand for blood.
Responding to the SANBS appeal, a local car dealership has offered a R150 fuel voucher for anyone who donates at their blood drive challenge.
The blood drive challenge will be hosted by Sure Drive on their premises, 154 Josiah Gumede Road, Pinetown from Wednesday 9 to Friday, 11 September.
The drive will be hosted from 9am to 3pm. There are 100 vouchers, terms and conditions apply.
In order to donate blood, a donor has to be: – between the ages of 16 – 65 – weigh over 50 kg – have a light meal before donating – and most importantly lead a sexually safe and healthy lifestyle. For further information contact: 0860119031.
