Teenage girl killed, baby injured after being hit by car on N2

The three-month-old baby sustained a fractured jaw and arm.

A GRADE 9 learner died after being hit by a car on the N2 north, near Spaghetti Junction, in the vicinity of Westwood Mall this morning (Friday, 4 September).

According to Life Response’s Leon Fourie, the teenage girl was carrying a three-month-old baby at the time of the incident.

“The girl was found lying in the middle of the road on Friday morning and the baby in the arms of a bystander.

“The girl sadly passed away on the scene and the baby was treated for injuries. The baby had a fractured jaw and we also treated her for a fractured arm,” said Fourie.

The baby was taken to hospital for further treatment. Fourie added, “There were four occupants in the vehicle. They sustained minor to moderate injuries.”
