Alcohol ban rumors labelled as fake news

Rumors that the ban on alcohol will be implemented tonight have been quashed.

“IT’S not true that President @CyrilRamaphosa will address the nation tonight . It equally not true that the NCCC/Cabinet has taken a decision to disallow the sale of alcohol . This is all #fakenews.”

That’s the Minister in the presidency Jackson Mthembu who tweeted this earlier today following rumors that alcohol would be banned once again.

DA MP Dean Macpherson also tweeted about the matter that has some people rushing to bottle stores in fear that the ban will be re-imposed.

” I am receiving a number of messages about the voice clip doing the rounds that there will be a liquor ban tonight due to a number of accidents.  I have engaged the DTI and they are not aware of it. I trust this helps,” read Macpherson’s tweet.
