‘Who will pay for all this water loss?’ asks Eldrige Road residents
For months, despite complaints from residents, clean, drinkable water has continuously been wasted due to a water leak.
ESCOMBE residents, who reside below the shopping area and across the Escombe Railway Station, are distraught about the water loss which has been an ongoing problem since before the lockdown began.

“The road comes to a dead-end here where run-off water goes down into the storm-water drains,” explained John Buckley, a resident in the area.

“Usually this area is clean and clear, but with all this water running here it has turned into a bit of a jungle,” he said indicating that vegetation is almost covering the storm water drain.
John’s wife, Michelle, said the problem has been ongoing since before the lockdown began in March.
All the residents in the road have repeatedly reported the damage but other than a very small pipe burst at the top of the road, little had been done to fix it.
Attempts to obtain a comment from the eThekwini Municipality proved futile at the time of publication.
