Sithokozile Secondary School learners; Khethiwe Mlambo (16), Asanda Ngcobo (18) and Amanda Msomi (15) with the help of few adults prepared a meal and bought fried chicken and a few necessities for Marcus, fondly known to them as ‘G’.

Msomi said Marcus’ dire situation was dealt a further blow recently when her belongings were burnt in a fire.

This, she said resulted in the homeless woman moving her abode to another spot within the neighbourhood. Her belongings were burnt recently and she was forced to move across the road.

“It was sad to see a woman sleeping on the streets especially in the cold.

“We were touched by the horrible conditions she lived under and decided to help her with clothes, we also bring her food everyday and keep her company,” said Asanda.

Although circumstances surrounding Marcus’ life remain unclear, she was able to say that her wish on Women’s Day was to have a fried chicken.

Sindisiwe Mjiyakho also joined in to support Marcus. She said her hope was for Marcus to find shelter.
