Pinetown neighbourhood watch receives CCTV upgrade

After a recent brazen robbery along Leeds Crescent in Pinetown, a local security store stepped in and donated a CCTV upgrade for the neighborhood watch.

AFTER the video of a woman being mugged along Leeds Crescent in Pinetown in late July was released, Security Superstore donated an updated video recorder to be used by the ProAct Neighbourhood Watch.

In the video, the woman is seen walking towards Willow Crescent when the two men run towards her. One of the men steals her bag while the other acts as a lookout. Both men fled the scene with the woman’s handbag and were not caught.

The security store’s Morne Van Zyl sponsored a 16-channel CCTV recorder for use by the ProAct Neighbourhood Watch.

The neighbourhood watch’s Andreas Mathios said, “Now I can increase my capacity around my neighbourhood by adding more cameras. Thank you!”

“We encourage pedestrians, walking from work or from a taxi rank to work, especially in the early hours in the morning to not walk with their phones or electronic devises exposed and not to entertain people who approach them,” said Mathios.
