Kloof Project helps grow a greener future

The local non-profit organisation invites residents as well as businesses in the area to support its fund-raiser.

TO balance out the number of trees that are felled for various reasons, The Kloof Project has made it their aim to provide families the chance to plant indigenous trees with its Donate and Plant Arbour Day project.

The annual event, to be held on Saturday, 5 September this year, will see local businesses and families -wearing masks, and armed with spades and water bottles- plant their own adopted tree in pre-dug holes along main roads in Kloof. They will also be given compost and fertiliser in advance by the garden team.

“Participants can watch their tree thrive and develop into something beautiful in years to come!” said the chairman of The Kloof Project, Chris Dalzell. “We look forward to the enthusiastic involvement by families from our local schools as well as businesses.”

The trees are supplied by the Kloof Conservancy and Gwahumbe wholesale nursery, along with support droppers from Poles Galore, tree guards made up by local resident, Jeremy Williams, and sponsored Neutrog fertiliser to give each tree a winning start.

To reserve your tree, email info@thekloofproject.co.za providing your contact details and how many trees you want to reserve. Thereafter, an EFT payment of R100 per tree will secure your booking. Contact Sandra Wickee on 083 312 6654.
