Help feed the homeless at Lahee Park

El Gibbor Kitchen provide lunch for the homeless housed at Lahee Park on daily basis and are appealing for sponsors and volunteers.

EL Gibbor Kitchen has been involved in feeding the homeless housed at Lahee Park since the beginning of lockdown.

The NGO provides lunch for 130 people on a daily basis and on Friday, 31 July, they were joined by the Robin Hood Foundation and Heart in Hands Foodbank who saw El Gibbor appeal for food.

Steph Amod from El Gibbor said most people do not realise that the homeless are still residing at the park.

She said it has been a privilege to be able to interact with the guys, to get to know them and to be a part of the change in their lives.

“There are so many positive responses that have come out of the camp. Their response is the love that we show them was reason enough for them to want to change. Everyone who has sponsored us has contributed to changing someone’s life,” said Amod.

Coordinator of the Robin Hood Foundation said the lockdown has brought people together as more companies, individuals, NGOs and NPOs are donating and giving their time to assist the needy.

“Local companies donated blankets, bread, fruits and juices for today’s lunch and we are grateful for their support,” she said.

Amod appeals to the public to sponsor them with food or to help prepare the meals.
