South African Weather Service predicts damaging winds across Durban

THE eThekwini Municipality issued a warning of active, strong winds across Durban and its surrounds until 8pm.

According to the South African Weather Service, a gale force south to south westerly wind, 35 to 40KT, is expected between Port Edward and Kosi Bay until 6pm.

In its statement, the City said, ” Wind gusts of up to 80km/hr are expected.”

eThekwini’s Disaster Management advised residents to move their vehicles away from trees and low hanging branches, to keep doors and windows closed, stay indoors and, should the electricity go off,  have lamps and flashlights on hand.
