Massive hole on corner of Sarnia and Leach Roads finally fixed

Drivers heading up Sarnia Road towards Queensburgh no longer have to swerve to miss the large hole near the corner of Leach Road.

AFTER weeks of frustration, the massive hole on the corner of Sarnia and Leach Roads has finally been repaired.

The problem began when a massive pipe burst and left residents in Hillary, Bellair and Seaview without water from 23 to 27 July.

After the pipe was repaired, a hole was left behind which posed a hazard to pedestrians and traffic.

Our sister publication, Queensburgh News posted a live Facebook video from the area on the morning of Wednesday, 29 July.

At the beginning of this week residents, who had seen the video, provided an update and said the hole had been filled in, but not re-tarred, and that the truck that did the repairs had driven over the newly filled hole and the tar had collapsed under the weight of the truck.

This prompted a message by Ward 65 councillor, Samantha Windvogel on Facebook letting people know she was aware of the subsequent damage at the intersection and was escalating the matter with the city.

Finally, on the afternoon of Tuesday, 4 August, Windvogel was able to share the news that the hole had been properly fixed and the area re-tarred.
