VIDEO: Queensburgh community bids farewell to W/O Anton Laas during funeral procession

Queensburgh residents were instructed to follow the recommended safety guidelines for Covid-19 while paying their respects.

DESPITE strict protocols for funerals during the Covid-19 pandemic, which limits the number of mourners, the community of Queensburgh found a way to bid farewell to one of their own who died last week.

Malvern SAPS crime prevention unit member, W/O Anton Laas, who died in hospital last week, was well known in the community he loved and served.

Anton is survived by his wife Venessa, and daughters, Cherise and Danielle.

He is also mourned by a large extended family of friends and colleagues.

Members of SA Community Crime Watch (SACCW) and various neighbourhood watch groups met at the park to witness the procession as it headed towards Main Road, Escombe, then past the municipal buildings and shopping area on Main Road, before passing the Del-Mein Shellhole and continuing towards Malvern SAPS.
