Round Table Kloof walks the talk

Members from the Kloof Round Table donated their time, as well as some in-kind goodies, to Husky Rescue KZN.

DESPITE the bitter cold on Sunday morning, the Round Table Kloof team were eager to walk the energetic pooches at Husky Rescue KZN in Cato Ridge as well as make a hearty in-kind donation.

With the change in lockdown rules, Husky Rescue KZN have happily opened their doors to the public for its bimonthly volunteer dog walks.

“We have just had our second open day and it was a huge success with an awesome turnout of people. We were also extremely excited and pleased to meet the Round Table Kloof team and they certainly enjoyed the morning,” said Husky Rescue KZN’s Charnell Ruth.

Ruth said that lockdown has hit them extremely hard as they lost four months of income.

“We also took in a few abandoned huskies as a result of the consequences of lockdown. So we are relieved to be able to commence with our Sunday Morning Husky Drag Events and extremely grateful for the support we have received so far,” said Ruth.

“We were the ones who were walked,” laughed Round Tabler, Matthew Helm. “We had a wonderful morning spent walking and playing with some of the huskies around their new farm, or puppies paradise, and learning about these wonderful animals.

“Charnell and her team must be complimented for all the work which they do for these pooches who have become lost or neglected over the years and need all the help they can get,” said Helm.

For a healthy dose of triple therapy that includes fresh air, vitamin D and dog love, Ruth encouraged Highway residents to connect with the organisation via its Facebook page or website to sign up and volunteer. All Covid-19 protocols are in place.

The non-profit organisation has collection points in and around the Hillcrest area and supporters are encouraged to make a donation.

“We are also grateful for any cash, dog food and goods donations such as blankets,” said Ruth.
