Armed men hit Watercrest Mall store

The masked thieves stole an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise.

THIS morning, two armed men stormed into the Jet store at Watercrest Mall and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and goods.

Captain Linzi Smith, Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, said the manager of the store and four other staff members were inside the store when two armed men, wearing face masks, entered the premises.

“A customer alerted the security a little after the suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. A case of business robbery has been opened and is under investigation,” said Smith.

Watercrest Mall’s centre manager, Beth Bragge, said the men also took an undisclosed amount of merchandise.

“No one was seriously injured during the incident. We would like to thank SAPS for their quick response and support. 

“Security is of utmost importance to us and we will continue to work closely with Thorburn Security and SAPS throughout the investigation,” said Bragge.
