The security guard said the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak has added to his fears.

The guard, who spoke to the Highway Mail and wished to remain anonymous, said they have been waiting patiently believing that eventually their grievances will be taken seriously.”After three years of waiting and complaining, nothing has been done.

The Isidingo Security guard said there were mobile toilets at the site but these were taken away.

According to the worker, the site in Berkshire Road belongs to the municipality.

“With the outbreak of Covid-19, we are seriously fearing for our lives, this is unacceptable. How can they expect us to work at a site with no water and toilets. We can not take it any longer. We need this matter to be dealt with immediately,” he said.

The security company was emailed regarding this issue and the Isidingo Security Services financial manager, Vimal Dabideen referred the Highway Mail to the City for a response.

Princess Nkabane from eThekwini media office said the municipality is working on addressing the complaints by carrying out further investigations.
