This recent initiative aims to expand on English literature and was inspired by the possibility of reaching and helping children despite social distancing during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The students recorded themselves and a copy of the recordings were sent to the home where they are played for the children.

“Reading for me has been a lifestyle and I felt a sense of honour being able to share this with the children at St Theresa’s Home,” said third year Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching student, Nasrin Kadwa.

“The VC Cares committee is dedicated to making a difference in the various communities around them. This initiative is rewarding for both students and the children of St Theresa’s Home as it helps students grow individually and become socially aware citizens while the children are exposed to a world of imagination and endless possibilities,” said Westville Varsity College PR, Kara Lortan.
