Malvern SAPS closes temporarily after staff member tests positive for Covid-19

On Friday morning there was still no confirmation on when the station will reopen.

COMMUNITIES serviced by the Malvern SAPS were advised yesterday (July 2) of the temporary closure of the police station.

According to the station commander, Lt Col Val Reddy, a member who works at the community service centre tested positive for the Covid-19 virus on Monday.

“The community service centre will now operate from the victim-friendly-room at the rear of the police station for the convenience of the community,” said Reddy.

She said all pedestrian traffic should be limited to serious case reports only.

For affidavits and commissioner of oaths residents can visit neighbouring stations.

What’s more telephone lines at Malvern police station community service centre will not be accessible for the duration of the closure.
But Reddy assured residents that service delivery would not be hampered.

Call 10111 for all emergencies and complaints.

By Friday morning the station was still closed and official comment from KZN communications centre had not been forthcoming.
