KZN’s top girl hockey teams gather virtually to celebrate Youth Day

Players who would be competing in the SPAR KZN Schoolgirls’ Hockey Challenge gathered online to celebrate Youth Day.

CAPTAINS and players from 10 of KZN ‘s 1st XI hockey teams which, under normal circumstances, would be preparing for the grand finals of the SPAR KZN Schoolgirls’ Hockey Challenge, joined together to commemorate Youth Day in South Africa.

Along the top of the image, representing five teams that were able to ‘qualify’ for the Grand Finals, are Pionier Hoerskool’s Berné van Heerden, Durban Girls’ Colleges’ Jenna Stichelbout, Our Lady of Fatima’s Emma Lofstedt, St Anne’s College’s Kiara McLuckie and Epworth School’s Tayla-Jade Weiss.

Along the bottom row are players from the five teams that didn’t get to play their regionals and includes the 2019 defending champs Amanzimtoti High School’s Robyn Boyce, Kokstad College’s Anga Gogela, Wartburg Kirchdorf School’s Lungelo Manqele, St Mary’s DSG’s Meggan Fourie and Felixton College’s Chloë Poustie.

The players said they all look forward to a time when they can once again gather on a field and play a game of hockey again.
