NPO assists Pinetown’s Open Door with toiletries

Open Door Crisis Centre director, Thora Mansfield said this donation will enable them to reach another 100 women and their children in their time of need.

ACCORDING to the national helpline, 210 000 calls were received for gender violence and other social issues during the lockdown.

The Open Door Crisis Centre is on the cold face of addressing violence against women and children and when Tracy Klokie, Hearts in Hands NPO (HiH) Founder, saw their appeal, she could not turn her back.

“To provide the best possible emergency food and supplies to people locked into poverty or circumstances that leaves them vulnerable is something that has always been on my heart to do and is our mission at Hearts in Hands and, in a way, what I have been doing through the various NPOs I’ve supported personally over the years.

“I hold the work that Thora Mansfield and the team at Open Door do in such high regard and it is a pleasure to be able to support them as they support the women and children in our community who need their guidance,” said Klokie.

Mansfield was grateful for this donation and said, “This donation will enable us to reach another 100 women and their children in their time of need. We are so grateful for Hearts in Hands enabling us to make a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable in our society.”
